ESW YOUTH @ Youth Tour of Ireland

The Errigal International Youth Tour is a festival of competitive cycle racing for boys born 1997 to July 2003 and girls born 1995 to July 2003 and is the premier youth event on the Irish cycling calendar. The event was held on Saturday 3rd till Monday 5th August.

The event itself is endorsed by both Cycling Ireland and Cycling Ulster, with each body represented by their own hand-picked teams and with all the thrills, spills and excitement of top class racing, competitions is keen, and never more so than when the cream of Irish talent meet the best from the British Isles (including Mark Cavendish Team from the Isle of Man) and the National South African Team.

Liam, Lewis, Niall, Kieran and Neil from ESW represented NOSCA in the race and did really well.

This stage race had four stages starting with a 50 km road race (on open roads) on Saturday, a hilly time trial on Sunday morning followed by another 50 km road race in the afternoon, then finishing off with a Crit on Sunday morning.

With 80 riders in each category our boys did really well and finished in positions 45 (Kieran), 52 (Neil who crashed in first race!), 56 (Niall).

Lewis (Youth B) finished 17th in the Crit race (33rd overall)Liam (Youth C) and finished first race did really well and finished 37th overall.

Special mention to Angus (City of Inverness Team) who managed to get on the podium for the Hilly TT with a 4th place. Edward (Cairngorm CC) managed 2 10th placing in the races. Julia (Cairngorm CC) and Ella (Forres CC) finished 13th and 14th in the Girls overall classification out of 22 riders.
