East Sutherland Wheelers and Scottish Cycling, with support from Forestry Commission and Lindsay's Bike Shop organised the second of the Highland Schools Mountain Bike Series on Saturday 30th April.

The Highland Wildcat trails were the scene for some quality racing displayed by over 55 youngsters from the age of six up to eighteen. For some of our riders it was a great opportunity to race locally and demonstrate their skills as members of the National Olympic Development Squad or Regional Development Squads. It resulted in a victory for Iain Paton and a third place for Thomas Van Holten in the U16 race, Anne-Sophie Chalmet was second and third was Rona Macleod in the U10 race.

After the races, a coaching session was organised for the Regional Development Squad by National MTB coach, Paul Newnham, assisted by regional Development Officer, Bob MacFarlane.
